September 2026 - Living What is True
September is a month that shows us what in our lives needs to be met with more integrity, and especially with what is true. Don't expect solutions this month, but rather a deepening of understanding what truly needs to be changed to live a life in more harmony and inner peace.

Integrity - Living What is True
Energetic Weather Conditions for September 2026
There are times when life asks us to change, and there are times when it asks us to become more deeply aligned with what we already know to be true...
After the 'strong winds' and shifting perspectives of August, we may begin to notice what needed to fall away so that the new could expand into reality. Not every outer change brings inner change. Not every certainty survives change. Some beliefs loosen, relationships reveal new dimensions, old identities become less appealing, and things we once thought we needed may suddenly feel less important. Yet underneath all this movement, something quieter can become easier to recognize: an inner sense of what is true for us.
This is where integrity begins...
Integrity is the experience of the different aspects of ourselves coming into agreement with one another. When what we think, feel, say, choose, and do are aligned with what we inwardly know to be true, there is less contradiction within us; we become coherent. This does not mean that we no longer experience doubt, difficult emotions, or inner conflict. It simply means that beneath them we can feel a deeper organizing center to which we can return - like an Inner Compass.
In this sense, coherence is something we can feel when we are in integrity. When body, mind, heart, and soul are no longer constantly pulling us in opposing directions, and when the energy previously caught in inner resistance becomes available for conscious choice. Integrity is the principle; coherence is the inner experience that tells us the different parts of ourselves are beginning to move together again.
September may therefore be less about finding new answers than noticing where we are still living in contradiction to what we already know.
The month carries a strong emphasis on inward work: discernment, responsibility, relationship, and the difference between emotional reaction, and clear thought and conscious choice. September brings an unusual opportunity to see things more clearly, but clarity itself will not be enough. What we recognize internally will increasingly ask to be translated into the way we live externally.
At the same time, cosmic forces guide our inner clock toward the seasonal Equinox and Michaelmas. These times often reveal the essence of ourselves to us. Steiner described this part of the year as a turning point in the great breathing rhythm of the Earth. Through spring and summer, life expands outward; toward autumn, this movement begins to reverse. In his spiritual-scientific picture, the Earth begins to "inhale" again toward the end of September, while the human being is correspondingly called toward greater inward wakefulness. So, as the outer light begins to withdraw, our inner soul forces guide us to reflect on what we have learned about ourselves.

After the Eclipses — What Has Been Revealed?
September also begins immediately after an intense eclipse passage. The total solar eclipse of August 12 (specifically influential for Spain, Iceland, Greenland) was followed only sixteen days later by the partial lunar eclipse of August 28. If we use eclipses symbolically—as humanity has done for thousands of years—their value may lie less in predicting events than in observing what becomes visible around them.Eclipses temporarily interrupt our ordinary relationship with light. Something familiar is obscured, and when the light returns we may see the landscape differently.
Looking at the world around us at the end of August, there is certainly no shortage of unresolved issues. The war involving the United States, Israel, and Iran has reached the six-month mark without a clear resolution, with continuing disruption around the Strait of Hormuz affecting energy markets and the wider economy. The Russia-Ukraine war remains unresolved as well, with intensified pressure on infrastructure and continuing disagreement over the conditions necessary for peace. At the same time, economic uncertainty, political polarization, technological acceleration, and questions about who or what we can trust continue to shape collective consciousness.
However, eclipses did not cause any of this. A cosmic event is not a physical cause of wars, earthquakes, or political upheaval, but within the symbolic language of these forecasts, the timing often corresponds with our Inner Transformation themes, and can therefore present an interesting image for us: The structures through which we create security—political, economic, technological, environmental, and personal—are now showing their vulnerabilities. September therefore may not immediately give us the resolution we are looking for, but rather asks us to contemplate:
What did August reveal that we can no longer pretend not to see?
This question applies collectively as well as in our personal lives, because often change does not necessarily bring the answer - but it can remove what prevented us from seeing what truly needs to be changed more clearly.
Equinox (September 23)
Finding the Center Within
Twice a year, the equinox arrives like a quiet threshold, a brief moment in the Earth’s journey when day and night come closest to balance. Yet the autumn equinox carries a different inner gesture than the spring equinox. In spring, balance opens toward expansion, growth, and becoming; in autumn, it asks us to gather what we have experienced and bring it inward. As the outer light begins to withdraw, and we are invited to discover what has become strong enough within us to remain. In the context of September’s theme, this makes the equinox a beautiful image for integrity and coherence.
Balance does not mean eliminating the opposites within us—mind and heart, reason and intuition, strength and sensitivity, action and surrender—but allowing them to come into a more conscious relationship with one another. When what we think, feel, say, choose, and do begin to correspond with what we inwardly know to be true, we become more coherent.
The equinox reminds us that this balance is never static; it is a continual recalibration around an inner center. Perhaps this September threshold therefore asks us not simply, “Where is my life out of balance?” but something deeper:
Where am I out of integrity with myself?
What has this past season revealed that I am now ready to acknowledge?
And what needs to come into greater coherence so that I can carry my own light more consciously into the months ahead?
Earth Changes — When the Ground Beneath Us Moves
There is another dimension of this transition that deserves attention. August brought several significant geophysical and environmental events. A magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Colombia on August 10, followed by a magnitude 7.7 earthquake in the Flores Sea region of Indonesia on August 14 and significant earthquakes in northern Sumatra and Peru in the following days. The British Geological Survey lists these among the major earthquakes of the period. Importantly, however, the number of very large earthquakes globally in 2026 has not been statistically unusual so far; what has been particularly striking is the human impact of several events.
Late August then brought the catastrophic Himalayan disaster along the Nepal-Tibet border, where a massive collapse of ice, rock, and earth entered a river system and produced devastating flooding. Subsequent analysis indicated that seismic signals initially interpreted as an earthquake were actually generated by the landslide itself. Rescue efforts have continued amid concern about further flooding from unstable water accumulation upstream.
Elsewhere we have seen severe wildfires, flooding, heat, and increasing concern about the developing El Niño pattern. Reuters reported rising wildfire hotspots in Indonesia and deadly fires in Algeria, while forecasters are watching what could become an exceptionally strong El Niño.
Historically, eclipses often come with earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, or extreme weather. We can assume, that there is a connection between Steiner's in- and out-breath of the Earth. The Earth is undergoing continuous processes of movement, pressure, release, heat exchange, atmospheric change, and geological transformation in time-scales that are too long for us to accurately observe. The reason why need to become more aware of these cosmic events, it that we are increasingly living out of balance with our Earth. Due to our ignorance (and potential geo-engineering aside) we have become more vulnerable to these earth changes due to unreasonable population concentration, infrastructure, and environmental issues in many areas of our planet.
Perhaps the spiritual question is not whether the Earth or our psyche is "responding" to an eclipse, but whether we are listening to the Earth at all.
The image of the ground moving beneath our feet is remarkably close to the psychological experience many people are having right now. Structures we assumed were stable are proving less stable than we thought. Systems we believed would protect us are showing their limits. Nature continually reminds us that control is never absolute. Earth changes can therefore bring the September theme of integrity into a very practical dimension. How do we live on the Earth? What do we take from it? What do we give back? How resilient are our communities? How much of our sense of security depends upon systems we barely understand? And perhaps most importantly: when the ground beneath us—literally or metaphorically—begins to move, where do we find our center?
Is Earth trying to show us that we need to in more harmony with her?
Inner Transformation — Integrity and Coherence

Integrity becomes particularly important when certainty is disappearing. We can often feel when something within us is not coherent. Our thoughts say one thing while our feelings say another. We agree to something while our body contracts. We claim something is important to us but repeatedly make choices that contradict it. We tell ourselves that we have forgiven while continuing to carry resentment. Or we insist that we are following intuition while underneath it there may still be fear.
These contradictions do not make us wrong or spiritually inadequate. They simply show us where something still needs our attention.
Integrity asks us to become curious about our inner unresolved aspects, rather than judge them.
This is why integrity should not be confused with certainty. A person can be completely certain and still be wrong. Nor does integrity mean rigidly holding onto what we believe. Sometimes integrity asks us to stand our ground. Sometimes it asks us to recognize that we misunderstood something and let it go. Coherence helps us discern between the two.
When we move toward integrity, something within us begins to come together. Thought, feeling, conscience, bodily awareness, values, and actions begin to correspond more closely. We may still feel uncomfortable, but underneath that discomfort there can be a deeper sense that we are no longer divided against ourselves.
The question for September becomes:
Can I become coherent enough within myself to recognize what truth is asking of me now?

Discernment — Knowing What Is True
September brings a strong impulse toward differentiation and discernment. We may find ourselves looking more carefully at what we consume, whom we trust, which relationships feel balanced, where our responsibilities actually lie, and which beliefs still make sense when examined more closely.Yet discernment is more than analytical thinking.
We can analyze something perfectly and still misunderstand its meaning. We can build convincing arguments around something we already wanted to believe. Emotional intensity can be mistaken for intuition, just as intellectual certainty can be mistaken for truth. This is why integrity requires the participation of the whole human being.
Does what I think correspond with what I inwardly know?
Does what I say correspond with what I do?
Do my choices correspond with the values I claim to hold?
Does what I call love create greater freedom and connection, or greater dependency and fear?
Does a decision bring me into greater coherence, or does it leave me increasingly divided?
Sometimes the choice that restores integrity is uncomfortable. It may require establishing a boundary, admitting that we were wrong, taking responsibility, forgiving someone, leaving something familiar, or letting go of an identity we have defended for years.
But beneath that discomfort, something within us can stop fighting itself. That's how coherence feels like, and with it, it may be one of the ways we can learn to recognize when we are returning to integrity.

Outer Transformation— Authority and Responsibility
This question becomes even more important when we look at the world around us.
We are living within increasingly complex collective systems. More and more of what we perceive is mediated through governments, institutions, social networks, media, algorithms, technological platforms, and artificial intelligence. Information arrives faster than our ability to digest it. Opinions are formed and circulated almost instantaneously. The pressure to choose a side can appear before we have even had time to understand the question.
This makes inner authority and our where we direct our attention to, to one of the central issues of integrity. Where do I place mine?
Handing our authority entirely to someone/thing outside ourselves can spare us the discomfort of discernment and responsibility. Someone else can tell us what is true, what to fear, whom to trust, and what choices to make.
However, rejecting all external authority is not integrity either. There are people who know more than we do. There are sciences, traditions, teachers, and experiences from which we can learn. Inner sovereignty does not mean assuming that every internal impression is correct.
Integrity asks us to listen without surrendering ourselves.
We investigate. We inquire. We question. We compare. We remain willing to change our minds. And eventually we accept responsibility for what we choose. The most important questions this month to move toward higher levels of integrity and inner peace is:
Who within me is making this choice? Fear? Habit? Anger? The need for approval? Something I have been conditioned to believe? Or is the choice arising from a deeper coherence between what I know, feel, value, and am willing to take responsibility for?
Integrity in Relationships
Another important September theme is the relationship between truth and love. Integrity in relationships does not mean separating ourselves from everyone who sees the world differently. In fact, relationships are often where our integrity is tested most clearly.
Can I remain connected with myself while remaining connected with you? Can I say what is true without needing to defeat you? Can I listen to another perspective without immediately experiencing it as a threat? Can I respect another person's freedom even when their choices are not the choices I would make?
Can I work things out WITH YOU - can we grow TOGETHER - without violating each others' values?
Truth without love can become hard and judgmental. Love without truth can become dependency, avoidance, or appeasement.Integrity asks us to hold both.
This is also where truth and love become relational. When we are divided within ourselves, we often unconsciously ask other people to resolve that division for us. We need them to agree with us, reassure us, validate us, or behave differently so that we can feel at peace.
The more coherent we become within ourselves, the less we need another person to compromise their integrity in order for us to maintain ours.
September may therefore also expose the difference between emotional reaction and conscious action. Anger can feel like courage. Fear can feel like intuition. Attachment can feel like love. Defensiveness can feel like integrity. Enmeshment can feel like caring.
Our emotions are not the problem. They carry information. Anger may reveal that a boundary has been crossed. Fear may show us where we feel vulnerable. Grief tells us that something mattered. Sensitivity can help us notice things long before the analytical mind understands them. But emotions are important messengers. Integrity allows them to become part of a larger inner conversation. Before reacting, we can pause and ask ourselves first:
What am I protecting? What am I afraid of losing? Does this feeling belong entirely to what is happening now, or is something older being triggered?
If I act from this thought/emotion immediately, will I become more coherent afterward—or more divided? September's task is not to become less sensitive. It is to become sensitive and conscious at the same time.

Michaelmas — The Courage of Integrity
Toward the end of September, all of these themes come together in the spiritual image of Michaelmas. Michaelmas, celebrated September 29, stands directly within this threshold. The familiar image of Michael and the dragon becomes especially meaningful here.
It is easy to imagine the dragon entirely outside ourselves:
The people who deceive us.
The institutions we distrust.
The technologies we fear.
The changes we resist.
The ideologies we oppose.
The darkness we perceive in the world.
But the Michaelic image becomes much more demanding when we recognize the dragon within ourselves as well: Fear. Projection. Blame. Our need to be right. Our attachment to identities. Our desire to surrender responsibility because following someone else can sometimes feel easier than making a conscious choice.
Michael's sword is an image of discernment. It separates. It distinguishes. Not people into good and evil, but truth from distortion within our own consciousness. Fear from intuition. Reaction from action. Attachment from love. Information from understanding. Certainty from knowing. External influence from our own judgment.
Michaelic courage is therefore not simply the courage to fight for what we believe, but rather the willingness to stand our ground. Sometimes it means letting go. Sometimes it means speaking. Sometimes it means becoming quiet enough to realize that we were wrong.
The deeper courage is to remain awake enough to discover what is true and then bring our lives into integrity with it.

Self-Healing Themes — Returning to Integrity
Healing this month may come less through forcing ourselves to change and more through noticing where we have moved out of integrity. We can often feel the resulting incoherence as physical or emotional imbalance:
Our body becomes tense achy, and unwilling.
Our thoughts become repetitive.
Our emotions become reactive.
We feel exhausted from maintaining something that no longer corresponds with what we know inwardly.
These experiences do not automatically tell us what is true or untrue, but they can signal us where we have become stagnant, rigid, or avoidant, but they can invite us to pay attention.
Where am I saying yes when something within me is saying no? Where am I blaming another person because taking responsibility would require me to change? Where am I calling something intuition when it may actually be fear? Where am I compromising what I value because I am afraid of losing approval, security, or belonging?
And where do I already know what is true but have not yet found the courage to live it?
We do not need to endlessly analyze ourselves. September is inviting us to bind inner balance through simple inner presence practices, such as: rest, walk outside, breathe, pray, meditate, create something, or have an honest conversation, spend time without schedule, listen to the body, let the mind become quiet enough for the heart to be heard.

The September Message
August disrupted what had become familiar. The eclipses temporarily interrupted the light and, symbolically, invited us to look again at what we thought we knew. Events in the world continue to expose vulnerabilities in political, economic, technological, environmental, and social structures. The Earth itself reminds us that stability is never something we can simply assume. September does not necessarily resolve these uncertainties. It asks us how we will meet them and what we will do with it.
Integrity does not require perfection - it is a process. What matters is learning how to return. We recognize that return because the different aspects of ourselves begin coming into agreement again. What we think, feel, say, choose, and do begin to belong to the same human being. Body, mind, heart, and soul begin moving together. Integrity restores coherence. And from coherence, conscious choice becomes possible.
September asks us to trust this process: to see more clearly, feel more honestly, take responsibility for what belongs to us, and have the courage to bring what we inwardly know to be true into the way we actually live.
May this month help you remain awake through uncertainty, loving without abandoning ourselves, discerning without becoming rigid, and courageous enough to return to your inner integrity. May it help you to stay awake when it would be easier to look away, remain open when fear would have us close, discern what is true without losing compassion, and find the courage to bring your inner truth into the way you want to live your life.

Integrity - Finding Coherence
"What brings me back into coherence?"
September ultimately asks of us:
Not perfection. Not certainty. Not obedience. Not rebellion. Integrity.
Integrity is the willingness to become responsible for the quality of our own consciousness and to notice what we allow into ourselves and what we send outward. What we consume. What we believe. What we energize through attention. What we project through unresolved emotions.
What we speak into relationships.
What we create through our choices.
And gradually, as this awareness deepens, the many dimensions of our being begin to come into greater alignment.

Integrity and coherence are closely connected.
Integrity is the experience of our different aspects of ourselves coming into agreement with one another. When what we think, feel, say, choose, and do are aligned with what we inwardly know to be true, there is less contradiction within us; we become coherent. This does not mean that we never experience doubt, difficult emotions, or inner conflict, but that beneath them there is a deeper organizing center to which we can return. In this sense, coherence is something we can feel when we are in integrity: body, mind, heart, and soul are no longer pulling us in opposing directions, and our energy becomes available for conscious choice rather than being conflicted by inner resistance.
Coherence is not a state we achieve once and keep forever. We lose it and find it again.
We become afraid. We react. We project. We become confused. We hand our authority away. And then something within us remembers.Come back.
Perhaps that is the real movement from August into September...The winds of August carried us home. September asks us to stand there consciously. And as the outer darkness thickens, we may discover that the light we were seeking has not disappeared at all. Something of it has entered us.
Integrity is not static or singular state of being... it is an inner state that we can uncover whenever the contradictions, fears and distortions that separate us from our True Self become quiet enough for us to recognize what has been there all along - our willingness to be true.
When we can become aware of this, and our will remains connected with love, it becomes the courage to live what we know to be true.
